#18 Listening and Visualization: Part II in Google Classroom

#18 Listening and Visualization: Part II

Make sure you do Monday's assignment first. Listen to the podcast story a 2nd time. This time you will need to have a pencil and paper. As you listen, write down words from the images that you visualize while listening. For example, Jule talks about going to jail and sitting in the chapel on a wooden pew(bench). So some words you could write down are: jail, chapel, bench...

Once you have finished listening to the podcast and you have a page full of words from the images his story brings to your mind, you will need to create your google drawing like the sample one I attached below. The sample is from last week's meditative story. Your project will be created after listening to "Changing the soundtrack of our lives, by Jule Hall.

1. Listen to podcast while writing down words that you visualize
2. Look at my sample based on last week's meditative story (Shea Hembrey, Trust the world to show its goodness)
3. Read directions on the attached drawing
4. Begin your own project on the attached Google Drawing. Your pictures are from today's story.
5. Be creative, add your own color if you want to, and make sure you have 9 pictures!

#17 Listening Visualization: Mindfulness Monday-Part I in Google Classroom

#17 Listening Visualization: Mindfulness Monday-Part I

This is a 30 minute activity. It will build through the week, so you can't skip this step. Listen to the attached podcast one time. All you have to do is listen in a quiet place or with earbuds. Listen through to the end...don't skip the commercials or the comments by Rohan.

If you were in my class on a daily basis, you would be spending 58 minutes in class. This is only 30 minutes. When you are done, you will type "I listened to the podcast" on the attached document and "turn in." That's all you have to do today...oh, and Assignments #15 and #16 if you didn't do those last week. Email me if you have any questions.

Please listen...don't skip...I will know by how you do the follow up assignment later in the week. Have a great MONDAY!

Due:

#15 Mindfulness Monday: Summary Listen and Respond to Shea Hembrey's, Trust the world to show its goodness in Google Classroom

#15 Mindfulness Monday: Summary Listen and Respond to Shea Hembrey's, Trust the world to show its goodness

Read ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND DIRECTION BEFORE BEGINNING

I have discovered Shea Hembrey as I walk each day, finding podcasts that motivate and move me. I want you to listen to the way he describes his childhood as a 5 year old. As you listen, visualize the scene he creates. What do you hear? feel? see? taste? and what emotions do you tap into? I find his story to be soothing, calming, and inspirational.

Listen to the Mindful Meditation provided in the link below. You will hear Shea and you will also hear Rohan, who is the guide for the Meditative Story. There is some advertising in the talk, just continue listening, DO NOT SKIP...both Shea and Rohan have very soothing voices.

Before you begin your assignment on the attached document below, read the information on the Heading/Title Sample I have given you. All of your future assignments need to be set up like this. You should be doing this automatically at this point.

Make sure you set up your paper properly and then really look at it before turning it in. Are there words that are underlined in red? Fix them! Did you leave any "i" lower case? Fix them now. Did you read each of your responses and check for errors? Edit carefully!

If you have any questions, please email me. If you want to talk to me in person, email me with a number that works and I will call you. Miss you all! We are starting a new session, so try to keep up! I will take any late work from Session #9 or Session #10-I will add all the credit at the next grading period. It's never too late to turn in an assignment.

ELD-This will count twice for you if you are a double up. :) It's your lucky week!

Due:

#16 TED Talk: Listen and Write Questions and Answers in Google Classroom

#16 TED Talk: Listen and Write Questions and Answers

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CLICKING ON ANYTHING!

For this assignment you will listen to the TED Talk attached to the link below. After listening, use the attached document to type 5 questions and 5 answers to those questions. Each of your questions need to be written in a complete sentence with close attention to grammar and punctuation. Each answer needs to be typed in BLUE and must be a restated answer and complete sentence. See the example below:

1. What kind of artist is Shea Hembrey?
Shea Hembrey is a contemporary artist. (the answer would be typed in BLUE)

Title your assignment: Shea Hembrey TED Talk Questions

Add a heading to your document. See the attached sample if you need help. The sample is for a summary, but it will still work for what you need on this assignment. The only difference being that you will be writing questions and answers, not a summary.

Please create questions that cover the beginning, middle, and end of the TED Talk. Don't just listen to the first few minutes and type your questions. I really want you to listen to the entire talk.

**Make sure you have done Assignment #14 BEFORE watching this TED Talk. I want you to listen to the artist before viewing the TED Talk.

Please make sure to finish this assignment and #14 by Friday. Check AERIES each day and get back to me with any questions.

**Anyone that emails me with just the words "HELLO MRS. PIETSCH" will receive 20 points extra credit-I just want to see who reads all the way to the end!

#14 -8 Parts of Speech Activity

Use the attached template to write the parts of speech that describe the picture. You will need to put one word in each of the spaces. For the "Three Word Sentence" make sure to choose 3 specific words that describe the picture. You DO NOT need a period. If you are not sure what an adjective, verb, or preposition is then you will need to look it up or use the link I have provided. You should know your parts of speech by now. You can do more than one for extra credit. All you will need to do is make a copy, put a different picture in the center, and attach it to this assignment.

Please go back and complete any unfinished work from this session or the previous session. I will give you credit for anything you complete.

If you have any questions, please email me or post a comment through the classroom assignment.

As for assignment #12, there was a technical error. Everyone is going to get credit for that assignment as it did not seem to be available when you logged in.

Period 4 and 5 Double Ups-You will need to do the extra credit as your second assignment. Just find a picture you want to use and insert it into the blank space.

This is a 40 point assignment. If you complete this assignment, your grade will be in excellent standing.

Please keep up on your work. If you have problems with technology or wi-fi please let me know. I am here to help, but I can't help you if you don't start by helping yourself. #9 Setting Up Folders In Email (Session #10) in Google Classroom

#9 Setting Up Folders In Email (Session #10)

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS: It is time to start organizing your email, just like you would organize your class folder. Since much of our communication will come via email) or Google Classroom, you must learn to organize the emails and information you will be receiving. Watch the video attached and make a folder for each of your teachers. I would suggest putting "Mrs. Pietsch" as the title of one of your folders and then make one for all of your other teachers.

I would also suggest going through your email and deleting any unnecessary emails. If you have 50 to 400 emails and you are having a hard time deleting, just tell yourself that you will delete about 20 a day...keep doing this until you are organized.

If you already do this then you are done for this assignment. Please press the "turn in" button in Google Classroom so that I can give you credit. If you would like extra credit, take a picture of your screen with your folders and send it to me. You can attach the picture in this Google Classroom Assignment.

Once you have created a folder "label" for Mrs. Pietsch, put all my emails in that folder.

If you are reading these directions, you still have time to go in and make up any work in Google Classroom. I am adjusting grades to be fair since we are all adjusting to this new style of learning. Your grades for the first 3 weeks out of school (Session #9) will be generous, unless you did not do anything for Session #8 and #9.
