El Camino Intake Meetings

El Camino Real High School serves students age 16 years or older and is designed for students who are credit deficient. Students are provided a variety opportunities for credit recovery and can earn credits at an accelerated rate if they take advantage of all of those opportunities. Courses are open to all interested students. Attendance at school has a tremendous impact on student success at El Camino.

 

Intake Process

  • Comprehensive high school counselor discussed El Camino as an option with student and parent/guardian.
  • If student/parent agree to an El Camino referral and Intake Referral form is submitted by comprehensive high school counselor.
  • El Camino counselor & administrator review the referral and schedule a meeting with the student and parent/guardian to determine if El Camino can provide the proper support for the student.
  • Students remain enrolled at their comprehensive high school until they are officially enrolled at El Camino.
  • El Camino will communicate with the comprehensive high school to arrange the transfer of enrollment.

Intake Meetings

  • Intake meetings are held with Counselor/Dean of Students during the week prior to the start of each marking period (listed below).
  • School expectations, credits, attendance and course selection are all discussed during intake process.
  • Students receive their schedule on their school start date.
