Due:
Make sure you have practiced using the screen cast video I recorded in Part 1 before you take the test. You can use your notes and a square root chart to help you. This last unit of the year is worth 1.0 credits so take your time as you only have one attempt on this test.

Hello! Hope you are well. Glad you are checking in. If you did not do the Week 6 work, go back and do that first then do the Week 7 work. Remember each week's work is worth half a credit.
Everything you need to do is listed step by step in the hyperdoc I've attached. You just need to click on each of the links to (1) watch the video, (2) open and make a copy of the assignment, attach or share it when you are done and (3) take the quiz. When everything has been done, turn it in and I will grade it.
This assignment overlaps with what we learned previously so you should find it in your comfort zone. If not, please email me and I am always happy to help you. My email is [email protected]
If you didn't watch the screen cast about the To-Do function in Google Classroom, please do. It's only 2 minutes and can help you get organized and see what you need to to and what you've turned in.

Make sure you've done this week's assignment before you answer this question of the week.
For this week's question of the week, I want you to create a more advanced Difference of Squares factoring problem in which a is not 1 and the last term is a perfect square greater than 12^2 = 144.
Here is my problem: My Difference of Squares problem is 81a2 - 256b2. In factored form it is (9a + 16b)(9a - 16b) because 9a^2 is 81a2 and 16b^2 is 256b2.
Now you create your advanced Difference of Squares problem

Make sure you've done this week's assignment before you answer this question of the week.
For this week's question of the week, I want you to create a Perfect Square Trinomial (PST) in which the last term is a perfect square greater than 12^2 = 144. Be sure you accurately find the middle term and explain like my answer below.
Here is my answer: My PST is x^2 + 50x + 625 which factors as (x + 25)^2. I know that 50x is the middle term because (x + 25)(x + 25) = x^2 + 25x + 25x + 625 = x^2 + 50x + 625. A shortcut to find the middle term is to multiply (x)(25)(2) = 50x.
Now you create your PST.

This week's question is: "What do you miss most about school?"
Mrs. R's response: As a teacher, I miss our class discussions during the lesson. I love posing questions, watching you think and share your ideas, and seeing you grow as you learn more about math. I try to capture that same dynamic when I record the lessons, but I know it is not the same.
So tell me what you are missing and if there is anything I can do to help you learn better. Thanks for sharing and take care.

Due:
Write a trinomial that cannot be factored into the product of two binomials AND explain why it is prime.
Mrs. R's answer: The trinomial x2 + 5x - 19 cannot be factored. The only two numbers that multiply to make 19 are 1 and 19 and it is impossible to add or subtract those two numbers to get a sum or difference of 5. That is why this trinomial is prime and cannot be factored.

Doing something for your physical health can also improve your mental health, sleep, and outlook. During these unusual times, make some time each day to exercise. Take a brisk walk with your favorite music blaring, find a youtube video and get pumping, or do some housework like vacuuming or moping to get that heart-rate going.
Since I'm not walking around the classroom right now, I feel better when I take an extra walk with my dog. We go out before lunch, and again after dinner. I used to walk about 10 miles a week, now I'm doubling that. I also do some upper body exercises with weights and bands to strengthen my injured shoulder.
Share what physical activity you are doing with us. It's an easy 5 points and the marking period ends this weekend. Keep working hard and take care!

Q4 Week 1 Question of the week: How much more have you been sleeping since we have been staying safer at home?
Hello to you all! I so hope that you are well...both body and mind. I want to encourage you to do your math assignment for the week. I promise it won't take too long. Why try you ask? Just like exercise is good for your body, doing math is so good for your mind! During this unusual time, try and do something that's good for you physically and mentally each day. So please do your assignment and turn it in when you are done. Thank you!!!
So today's question is "How much more have you been sleeping since we have been staying safer at home?"
Instead of getting up at 5:30, I've been sleeping in until about 7:00 am, so for me it's about an extra 1 1/2 hours per day, which I love! zzzz...

This activity is called parabola slalom. What is a slalom you ask? Watch this 45 second video that shows you. Can you visualize the little parabolas?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ74PQCwQfI
Now, apply what you've learned about quadratic equations to graph parabolas that will pass between the gates.

1. Write the addition or subtraction probem: The more original and complex your problem is the better.
2. Explain why the solution is 2x - 6y.
