Here is my problem: My Difference of Squares problem is 81a2 - 256b2. In factored form it is (9a + 16b)(9a - 16b) because 9a^2 is 81a2 and 16b^2 is 256b2.

For this week's question of the week, I want you to create a Perfect Square Trinomial (PST) in which the last term is a perfect square greater than 12^2 = 144. Be sure you accurately find the middle term and explain like my answer below.

Here is my answer: My PST is x^2 + 50x + 625 which factors as (x + 25)^2. I know that 50x is the middle term because (x + 25)(x + 25) = x^2 + 25x + 25x + 625 = x^2 + 50x + 625. A shortcut to find the middle term is to multiply (x)(25)(2) = 50x.

Write a trinomial that cannot be factored into the product of two binomials AND explain why it is prime.

Mrs. R's answer: The trinomial x2 + 5x - 19 cannot be factored. The only two numbers that multiply to make 19 are 1 and 19 and it is impossible to add or subtract those two numbers to get a sum or difference of 5. That is why this trinomial is prime and cannot be factored.

Doing something for your physical health can also improve your mental health, sleep, and outlook. During these unusual times, make some time each day to exercise. Take a brisk walk with your favorite music blaring, find a youtube video and get pumping, or do some housework like vacuuming or moping to get that heart-rate going.

Since I'm not walking around the classroom right now, I feel better when I take an extra walk with my dog. We go out before lunch, and again after dinner. I used to walk about 10 miles a week, now I'm doubling that. I also do some upper body exercises with weights and bands to strengthen my injured shoulder.

Share what physical activity you are doing with us. It's an easy 5 points and the marking period ends this weekend. Keep working hard and take care!

Hello to you all! I so hope that you are well...both body and mind. I want to encourage you to do your math assignment for the week. I promise it won't take too long. Why try you ask? Just like exercise is good for your body, doing math is so good for your mind! During this unusual time, try and do something that's good for you physically and mentally each day.
